This committee meets every three months and includes members nominated by the Chamber of Commerce and the Watercress Line, Winchester City Council Tourism Department and the Market Towns’ Development Officer. The committee is responsible for all issues that have a bearing on Tourism in the Town including the Watercress Festival, Hanging Baskets and Music Festival. The committees main purpose is to promote, support and encourage Tourism activities in Alresford.
Exhibitions and Displays
There are a number of displays and exhibitions about the town and the history of the town:
- Themed exhibitions in the Library organised by the Alresford Museum Trust.
- Old photographs in the passageway off Broad Street - next to Help the Aged.
As ever the town will be decorated with the traditional summer Hanging Baskets and Up the Pole Planters, which will also be in Station Road this year. These displays have been a sight in our town for over 40 years, we are very proud of them, and believe the town would not look the same without them. If you would like to sponsor one of the Up the Pole Planters or have a Hanging Basket please contact the Town Council. Our thanks to the Sponsors and the hard work of the waterers.
Market Town Officer
Alresford along with three other local Towns are benefitting from the WCC Market Towns’ Development Officer Role. Creating one off special events in the town and working with our wide range of active local groups, this person continues to encourage Tourism and a shop locally message in our town. If you have any ideas you would like to put forward, please contact
